2015: Jonathan deserves NO re-election, says Kwankwaso.

Gov-kwankwaso-03

As President Goodluck Jonathan prepares for his re-election next year,  Kano State Governor, Dr. Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso has warned that Jonathan  is not qualified to contest for presidency in 2015.
According to the governor, any attempt by Jonathan to run in the next  poll will amount to a third term in office, which is not acceptable to  most Nigerians.
Kwankwaso, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, yesterday, advised  President Jonathan to take urgent steps to solve the raging insecurity  challenges in the North-East and stabilise the Nigerian economy and take  a  bow from governance in 2015, when he would have attained the  eight-year maximum limit stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.
The governor argued that contrary to the President’s position that  his tenure started in 2011, the true position remains that he actually  started serving as Nigeria’s President in 2007 and would have completed  his eight years in 2015.
Describing any third term bid as a taboo, Kwankwaso pointed out that  Jonathan and those urging him to run in 2015 could never justify such a  move, which runs contrary to the clear provisions of the law.
The governor said: “Jonathan is not qualified to contest election  again in 2015 going by the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.  Third term is not acceptable to any part of Nigeria and the time limit  stipulated must be respected by all Nigerians.
“I am sure Nigerians will kick against a third term whether by Jonathan or by any other person in this country.
Mr. President would have completed his eight years in office by 2015.  He served as Vice President for two years, Acting President for two  years and is doing another four years, which will terminate in 2015.
“But those advising the President are pretending that his tenure  started in 2011. I saw them on television the other day trying to argue  in that direction, but they can never be correct. I am not a lawyer, but  I know that two plus four plus six can never be eight.

Inferno Remark:Jonathan hails armed forces of Nigeria for Killing Biafrans to Keep Nigeria Together.

President-Jonathan-army

President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the Nigerian Armed forces for keeping Nigeria united, adding that but for their sacrifices, Nigeria would have been two or more nations today.President Jonathan said that the only to honour those who paid the supreme price for the nation to remain one was for  leaders of today,  to watch what they say and ensure that they song they sing will bring honour to the fallen heroes and peace to the country.
The President said this Sunday at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2014 Inter-denominal church service, at the National Christian Center, Abuja
Jonathan who reiterated that his personal ambition was not worth any Nigerian spilling his/her blood, urged  politicians to heed the warning of the cleric, Revd. Oche that threats will not push the people to the polling stations come 2015 and without people voting no manipulation of figures will declare one a winner.
He commended the country’s armed forces particularly those that paid the supreme price to ensure Nigeria’s unity and urged Nigerians to emulate their selflessness in their service to the nation.
“I always believe that it could have been worse than this in terms of our challenges within and in the global trend but because of your prayers God has been kind to us.
“Pray for us to always remember our fathers because we are in a political environment and politicians always have ambitions, we really appreciate your prayers”.
The President commended the Archbishop for admonishing politicians in this era of camping and decamping.
“The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a unique occasion but this year’s programme is even more unique because 1st January this year Nigeria marked 100 years as a nation, its not easy to get there.
“There were a lot of challenges. For us to have reached 100 years some people paid dearly for it, some people worked for it.
“The first group of people we can remember that worked and paid dearly for it are the armed forces. You know the challenges they had to face during the civil war, but for them we wouldn’t have celebrated the Centenary, Nigeria would have been two or more nations by now. But they worked for it, some died in the process, some died serving the world outside.  These are the people we are remembering today.
“We also have to emulate them. Those who have paid supreme sacrifice to keep our nation together, those of us who are alive especially leaders today, the only way to honour them is to watch whatever we say, whatever song we sing should be a song that will bring honour to them and peace to this country.
“Sometimes I get worried when I listen to provocative statements that come from very senior citizens. People that ordinarily you perceive are very senior citizens. People who are probably 70 or 80 years who have seen it all who ordinarily should know the unity of this country is more important than the interest of any individual.  Sometimes they preach hate and even encourage young people to carry arms and kill themselves.
“I have always said it that any ambition I have at any time is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. I will never ever expect a Nigerian to spill a drop of his blood because Goodluck Jonathan must fulfil his ambition.
“I pray that all politicians should know that there will be no nation if we kill ourselves, just like the Archbishop said if you want people to come out and vote why do you threaten them. If you threaten them people will stay in their houses and how do you intend to win election is it by manipulating the figures and declare yourself a winner?
“So in an occasion when we are remembering those people that have kept this country one for us to be celebrating our centenary we should admonish ourselves the key actors today, we should preach peace, we should preach unity. If all of us collectively talk about the unity and peace of this country then of course all our economic, security problems will be resolved and the country will move in the direction we want it to”.
Earlier in his sermon, Most Rev. Job Oche,  titled How do we keep Nigeria one? Noted that the fallen heroes of Nigeria did not just fight for the survival of the nation but for Africa and beyond.
He noted that in spite of the rise and fall in the nation’s history, Nigeria is still one of the leading nations in Africa.
He urged that since the fallen heroes died to keep Nigeria one and their families be taken care off by government and all concern, “because without their sacrifice we will not remain one today.
“We should do our best to keep Nigeria one so that their labour will not be in vain.
“How to keep Nigeria one is by doing our quota instead of criticising all the time. We must appreciate the transformation in aviation, agriculture sector, we must reduce unemployment rates. We must stop hiring thugs to murder opponents in order to realise our ambitions.
“Stop uttering words that will weaken those in authority and we must rebuke those who are power drunk. Speak things that will edify you and me.
“By hating other tribes or religion, this will not eliminate the tribes nor religion. No religion will surrender to the other no matter the hate, the tribal wars is as a result of land tussle etc.
“We must learn to be tolerant of others because God knows why he allowed all to exist. Every religion is meant to build the nation”.
The cleric advised politicians to give Nigerians peace, saying “some of the utterances are sending fears in the spin of Nigerians, and making us anxious of 2015.
“If you need our vote don’t threaten us because none of us will appear at the polling station. Leave 2015 alone God knows what he will do with 2015.
“Political ambition does not know father.  Pray for this nation and stop destroying one another because of ambition.
“Why are you threatening us that 2015 will be bloody? Do you know God rules in the affairs of men? Nabuccardnezar in the Bible did not know but he was taught a lesson.
In this era of decamping, the church has no answer to that because they are also decamping. Whether you decamped or not the Most High God will speak.
“No rebellious group in the Bible ever succeeded, recalled how Absulum rebelled against his father? He died by hanging”.
First Scripture Reading from Psalm 91:1-16, was taken by the Chief of Army, Lt. Gen Azubike Ihejirikan while Second Scripture Reading from Ephesians 6:10-19a, was taken by President  Jonathan
Prayers were said for the President, for the Armed Forces and Peace in Nigeria and for the Legislature and the Judiciary.
Prayers were also said on insecurity,  terrorism, conflicts and unrest as well as for the families of the fallen heroes.
Some notable personalities in attendance were, Senate President David Mark, Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, the President’s mother, Eunice Jonathan, Chairman Board of Trustees of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)N Chief Tony Anineh, Secretary to Government of Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Chief of Staff to the President and other presidential aides.

Presidency Says No Minority Report Was Presented to GEJ By Confab Committee.

By SaharaReporters, New York

The presidency has denied that President Goodluck Jonathan refused to receive a minority report of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the proposed national conference, an allegation reportedly made by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Okey Wali.
According to a press statement by presidential spokesman Reuben Abati today, Mr. Jonathan is unaware of the existence of a minority report that was supposedly prepared by a member of the Committee, Chief Solomon Asemota.

He recalled that Chief Asemota himself was present at the submission of the committee’s report to the President on December 18, 2013, and on that occasion quoted the Chairman, Senator Femi Okurounmu, as denying the existence of a minority report.

“As everyone, including representatives of the media who were present at the occasion will attest, Chief Asemota raised no objection to the foregoing comments by Senator Okurounmu and made no effort whatsoever to present any dissenting minority report to the President,” the statement said.

It added that there was therefore never any issue of President Jonathan refusing to receive such a minority report from Chief Asemota and the Presidency is completely unaware of any factual basis for the claim by the NBA President to that effect.

“Mr. Wali’s castigation of President Jonathan’s purported rejection of a minority report is consequently unfair, based as it is, on a wrong premise,” it said. “President Jonathan did not at any time interfere in the deliberations of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the National Conference and he had no reason to reject a minority report, if it exists and was ever offered to him.”

The presidency reassured the NBA that the administration is guided in all instances by democratic principles; the idea of a National Conference being in itself a loud evidence in this regard.

“We invite the Nigeria Bar Association and other professional bodies to support the administration’s efforts to strengthen our democratic process. Criticisms of such efforts can only be useful when they are constructive and based on facts.”

Nigeria’s existence no longer legal MASSOB •Says it’s an experiment of 100 years.

MASSOB-04

THE Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), on Wednesday, said Nigeria’s existence as an entity no longer legal, adding that it has expired.

According to its national director of information, Uchenna Mmadu, in a document issued to newsmen on Wednesday, the group said the expiration of Nigeria as an entity was based on the expiration of the amalgamation of Southern and Northern protectorate by the then British colonial masters in 1914.

Mmadu said the amalgamation by the British was to be experimented for 100 years, to know if it was going to work or not, adding that now, people of Southern and Northern Nigeria must come together to enter a new agreement under their own terms.

He said though the document was kept secret, it was generally known to the ruling class, scholars of political science and law, as well as the government of the United Kingdom.

“There has been consistent efforts by the Nigerian government to keep the knowledge out of the public, as it may lead to agitation for breaking the country into two.

“The awareness of the document and the closeness of 2014 has been causing panic among the Northern elite; this panic was behind the previous comment by the Senate President that Nigeria will not break up when the late president of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, called for break-up of Nigeria.

“It was also behind the warning by NBA president in Benin this week that Nigeria may break up. Even President Goodluck Jonathan is nervous about this fact; remember that he kept on saying that Nigeria will not break up.

“Also, it was the real reason behind the Northern governors’ security meeting in Kaduna, according to our secret intelligent agencies.

“All these sudden talks about Nigeria breaking or not breaking up by the political leaders, including the president, show how anxious they are about the implications of the document and the closeness of 2014,” Mmadu said.

Mmadu recalled that the knowledge of the document was behind the prediction by American diplomats that Nigeria would break up before 2015, adding that the United States (US) army was also preparing on how to respond to the possible break-up of Nigeria.

He said Nigeria leaders were hypocrites, as no ethnic group believed in the existence of Nigeria.

“How can we continue to deceive ourselves that we love Nigeria while about 12 northern governors introduce Islamic religions law (Sharia) as their state constitutional law?

“Some state governors have introduced their coat of arms, flags, anthem and other ethnic identities. Some persons in Nigeria are more powerful than Nigerian constitution and the law.

“Corruption is being celebrated in high and low places of Nigeria and the judicial system is so weak that it has become a willing tool for witch hunting,” he said.

He maintained that the implication of the expiration of Nigeria’s amalgamation was a clarion call to all ethnic pressure groups to rise in defence of their people, culture, tradition and future, in order to be free from mental slavery.

While Okorocha and APC busy Islamising Biafrans, Police in Imo State are busy Renting Rifles to Kidnappers.

Five policemen, serving in Imo State police command, including the armourer of New Owerri police division, are now in detention over how one of the AK-47 rifles officially issued for guard duties, ended up in the hands of dare devil kidnappers operating in the state.
Confirming the develpoment to Vanguard in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Musa Katsina, said while four of the five policemen were explaining their involvement in the sordid act, the armourer is being tried for negligent conduct.
Katsina said: “It is true that I ordered the arrest, detention and interrogation of four serving policemen of this command for allegedly renting one of the rifles assigned to them to dare devil kidnappers.”
According to the CP, all the police officers, including the armourer, arrested in connection with the sordid finding are now facing orderly room trial.
He said: “I have constituted a panel to try them. They have been given the opportunity to explain and anybody found to be involved in the crime would be made to face the full weight of the law.”
Giving a graphic account of how the police recovered the weapon from fleeing kidnappers, Katsina said the command’s Ambush Squad gave a hot chase to a gang of kidnappers and in the process, they abandoned the gun in their operational vehicle and ran away.
“When the vehicle was thoroughly searched, the AK-47 rifle belonging to the command was recovered. We traced the point of issue to New Owerri police division and that is how the armourer came into the picture,” the CP said.
Katsina said policemen are given weapons to protect the citizens and not to use it to terrorize the people they are supposed to protect.
“The four were officially assigned the weapons for guard duties. The other three policemen never reported to anybody that their colleague whose weapon was later recovered from kidnappers, was not reporting for duty” the CP said.
Investigations revealed that the four policemen were posted to the residence of a retired CP (names withheld), while Katsina has since reported the incident to the Inspector General of Police.

Should have Killed All Biafrans When We Had The Chance Buhari, Obasanjo and Co.Regrets; “You May Not Survive This” – Obasanjo Tells Jonathan.

OBJ Jonathan horror meal

While the country [Nigeria] grapple with the oily grips from the quibble between a political godfather and a political godson, little is made of the actual behind the scene factors that led to the crack in the formerly rosy relationship. Information available to 247ureports.com through sources close to the principal actors within the warring camps reveal what appears an unspoken truth – that dates back to the fall of Biafra to the Nigeria troops led by the then Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo in Owerri, the then capital of the federal republic of Biafra.
According to the consortium of sources who spoke on the true causative factors responsible for the turn in demeanor in the former People Democratic Party [PDP] godfather, General Olusegun Obasanjo towards President Jonathan, indicate that the chief reason for the effort to halt Jonathan’s presidency before 2015 points to the formerly agreed upon policy towards the former eastern region – which later became the Biafra territory – that then lost the war the Nigerian troops.
According to a competent source, the self – acclaimed victors of the Nigerian civil war, the likes of Buhari, Babangida, Obasanjo, Gowon, Murtala Mohammed and company – had an agreed upon policy of under-development of the region – to aide sedated the urge for another agitation group to find its footing. The policy was particularized for the south east zone.
Such policies focused on denying the region of an international airport, ability to source crude oil and refine, ability to access international trade and technology – among other sensitive developmental vectors. Through the successive government that followed after the military fall of the Biafra effort, the policy was implemented without error. Obasanjo’s regime during the civilian era ensured that the marginalization policy remained unchanged.
The talk of locating an international airport at each geopolitical zone in Nigeria saw a defiant Obasanjo when the discourse included South East region.

The Obasanjo regime also saw the placement of an oil refinery in the South East as going against the agreed upon policy of the winners of the Nigeria/Biafra war. The exploration of crude oil deposits around the Kogi/Enugu/Anambra belt remained abandoned during his regime.
The surprise and uncharacteristic coming of Dr. Goodluck Ebelemi Jonathan to the presidential seat brought an anomaly into the equation. The said owners of the country did not expect what his presidency may result to – as per the agreed upon policy towards the south east region. Obasanjo had promised his “co-owners” that he would be able to “control” the excesses of President Jonathan – “that Goodluck was his boy” and will be held with a short leash. Obasanjo’s northern partners were able to rest their nerves in that President Jonathan will serve a mere one term and that by 2015, he will step down from the mantle of leadership and allowed for the owners of Nigeria to continue along the path already set out by General Gowon.
A source close to Obasanjo told 247ureports.com that the former head of state had stated in serious discussions that Jonathan chances putting Nigeria at risk over his conversion of Enugu Airport to International Airport because of the history of the area. He also mentioned the opening of the Orient Petroleum oil drilling and refining services as near treasonable – because it allows the region access to precious cash commodity [as crude oil] should the region chose to declare independence from the Nigerian Union again. The source pointed out that Obasanjo sees himself as a defender of the present day Nigeria dating from post Nigerian civil war. The sources continues that Obasanjo sees himself as responsible for ensuring that the country stays together as one unit. In his mind, the eagerness of the Jonathan presidency to ease the tariff placed against the former Biafran region points to a dangerous precedence that may be copied by other leaders – if not checkmated.
The recent open letter to the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck E. Jonathan by the former president, General Olusegun Obasanjo is believed by our source to be part of the program to halt the trend of easing the economic blockade against the south east and south south region. One of the principal fears – according to the source – concerns the upcoming national census exercise scheduled for 2016. The recent public utterances by the former top boss of the national population commission, Odumegwu, stating that the previous census figures were either wrong or falsified, exacerbated the fear harbored by the self-proclaimed owners of the country. It lead to the likes of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso into issuing threats to the President charging that he sack the census commission boss – or face the consequences. President Jonathan bowed and unceremoniously sacked Odumegwu.
But Jonathan’s body language of wanting to continue his leadership past 2015 has the former president and one-time coup-plotter unsettled. Both President Jonathan and Obasanjo are reported to have met severally behind closed doors over the upcoming 2015 elections – with Obasanjo impressing on Jonathan that his desire to contest will throw the country into bloody revolution. At a recent secret meeting in Abuja [not Aso Villa], the two were said to have met at a home around the home of high personality in Asokoro – where Obasanjo continued to remind President Jonathan that he will be embarking on a potentially catastrophic mistake should he continue to be adamant about the 2015 venture. Some of Obasanjo’s northern partners were reported to be present at the meeting – when President Jonathan that a truly democratic Nigeria must not be allowed to degenerate to bloody chaos over what is constitutional rights and freedoms. The President was reported to have made it categorically clear that Nigeria remains a free democratic society for every citizen regardless of which geopolitical zone he originates “justice must fear no evil” – to which Obasanjo retorted, “You may not survive this”.

APC to assume House leadership soon.

Aminu-Tambuwal-002

There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress, APC, may, on resumption from recess of the House of Representatives on January 13, 2014, assume the leadership of the House from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This, however, may not affect the offices of the speaker and deputy speaker respectively.

The impending development which Vanguard scooped yesterday, is followed by the defection of 37 members of the PDP to APC late last month.
Speculations had been rife since December 2013, shortly before the House went on Christmas break, that the change would have occurred.

A member of the House and PDP decampee who spoke to Vanguard on conditions of anonymity, said the first quarter of the new year would herald changes that would affect the leadership structure of the House.

He said: “Within the House, 2014 will be a remarkable year for Nigeria, remarkable in the sense that, of course, the trend which began in late 2013 in terms of power shift will continue and what that means is that APC should be able to get the requisite 181 members which gives it complete majority. When that happens chances are that the leadership will shift from PDP to APC.

“APC has between 172 to 174 members in the House. And what we just need, I think is between 8 and 9 new members in terms of those crossing from PDP to APC. And that will be the APC requisite that will shape the House and points the future direction of the House.

“But what is certain is that if everything does not change, the leadership, the majority leader will need to relinquish that position because at the end of the day, a party cannot be in the minority and still hold the position of the Majority Leader.”

Army retires 30 Generals.

Lt-Gen-Azubuike-Ihejirika-003

FOLLOWING the promotions and postings of 27 major generals by the Nigerian Army Council, indications have emerged that the Army authorities have issued terminal letters to 30 generals, preparatory to their leaving the force between today, 31st December and 31st January 2014.

Among the generals that have so far received the letters are some principal staff officers at army and defence headquarters, commandants of tri-service institutions, corps-commanders, as well as those of Army-owned training institutions.

Nigerian Tribune gathered from authoritative military sources that while some of the generals have served the mandatory 35 years in service, others have been caught up by the age on rank requirement for retirement and some have become not promotable by virtue of the fact that they have not been successful with the promotion boards for the three scheduled opportunities.

On why such large number of generals would be allowed to leave service, even after President Goodluck Jonathan had, in the past, reiterated the need to keep these officers that cost the nation colossal amount of money to train, the source said; “Yes, the services of the officers would still be needed by the Army, but it will be in a different capacity.”

According to the military source, the top hierarchy of the armed forces is heavy and if the terms and conditions of service are not followed, the young officers will not get to the top too.

“For the sake of ensuring that the top of the service is not too heavy, thereby hindering deserved promotions and movement (postings) of officers with new ideas and innovations, these officers (retirees) have to be retired in line with the Armed Forces Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS).”

The source also disclosed that the ever dynamic internal security outburst spearheaded by the Boko Haram debacle, threats of kidnapping, armed robbery and renewed banditry along the nation’s border areas are also areas the army intends to pay more attention in the coming year.

“Towards this end, tested and highly trained officers who have garnered both local and international experiences, will not just be discarded. Their services will be required in strategic planning, training and support in dealing with moves aimed at containing and curtailing the myriads of security challenges facing the nation,” it was gathered.
