Harold Camping and The Rapture.

According to Harold Camping, the “Rapture” of the church was supposed to have occurred on Saturday, May 21 and the world was supposed to end. Atheist groups held “Rapture” parties making fun of Christians as they anticipated another “Rapture” that would not happen.

Marc Perkel, founder of the Church of Reality, said, “I don’t know what Harold Camping had in mind when he predicted the end of the world, but atheists are making up Christian jokes like there’s no tomorrow.”

If Mr. Camping is a true minister, then his ignorance of what the Bible actually teaches is astounding.

Laying aside the argument that the “Rapture” and “Return” are two separate events or one single event, what did Jesus say about his return to Earth? “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

Luke 12:40 “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” Mark 13:32

Christ tells His church to always be ready to be taken to heaven but no man nor angel will know the exact date that would happen. Also, no man knows the date of his death. You don’t want to die without receiving Christ’s gift of pardon.

Harold Camping is being disobedient to the one he claims to follow by setting dates. Mr. Camping has now set the date for 10-21-211 which almost guarantees that nothing will occur on that day.

What did Luke say about the second coming? “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh , shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8 Luke is saying when Christ returns, the world will be in spiritual darkness, having rejected the provision of the cross for their salvation. John said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh , when no man can work .” John 9:4.

A thorough study of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation do reveal a time when hell will literally be unleashed on Earth but it’s not the end of the world. When Christ returns, the world is not going to end. Christ is returning to set up an earthly kingdom that will last for 1,000 years.

What’s coming to an end is our present world system. According to scripture, Satan is the god of this age and his rule is coming to an end. Our world system is controlled by four major forces: Catholicism, Communism, Capitalism, and Islam.

Therefore Satan is the god of all these world systems which may come as a shock to some people. All these systems will soon be extinct. Satan is not going to stand by passively while Christ sets up His kingdom. He will resist Jesus with everything at his disposal.

Will the world end? Isaiah 45:17 states, “But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.” Ephesians 3:21 states, “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.”

If this world is without end, then what do we do with the scripture, “Heaven and earth shall pass away : but my words shall not pass away” which is recorded in Matthew, Mark, and Luke? Both heaven and earth have been tainted by sin thanks to the rebellion of an angel named Lucifer.

After the 1,000 year reign of Christ has ended, both earth and heaven will be cleansed by fire but they will not be annihilated. This is similar to the time of Noah’s flood when the earth was completely covered with water but the earth was not destroyed because we still live on it.

Since this world is without end and the new earth and heaven will not appear for at least another thousand years, setting dates for the end of the world is ludicrous.

Harold Camping makes the church look like a bunch of idiots who believe in some kind of fantasy that will never happen. The church is supposed be telling others the good news of the gospel which is the fact that Christ took the punishment upon Himself for the sin of every man, woman, and child who will ever live. The only condition is each person must believe and trust in that sacrifice.

The fact is for all non believers such as these atheist groups who celebrate and mock Christians who have missed yet another “Rapture”, will one day find themselves in the position of saying “They’re gone!”

Christ will return. Christ will resurrect the dead and snatch away those who are living believers at that time. Christ will judge the sin of those who reject His gift of pardon.

I am daily astounded by the events that are occurring in 2011 that relate to Bible Prophecy. The unrest in the middle east, the persecution of Israel, nature unleashing its fury in unprecedented fashion, and the coming collapse of the global economy due to government debt.

Harold Camping is right about one thing. Prophesy is being fulfilled right before our very eyes indicating the soon return of Christ but setting the date for that is wrong for only God knows when that will be and it will catch most of the world totally by surprise.

Power of the Sword.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In his book The Lost Art of Disciple Making (Zondervan, 1978), Leroy Eims describes his personal battle with anger and a temper.

It was not until he made a covenant with God, which included memorizing and meditating on Colossians 3:8 (“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath . . . .”), that anger loosened its grip on his emotions.

He reviewed the verse daily and asked the Lord to bring it to mind whenever he was tempted to lose his temper.

The Word of God became a sword with which he was able to win his spiritual battle.

Jesus used Scripture in a similar way. When He was tempted for 40 days and nights in the wilderness by Satan, Jesus rebuffed every temptation by quoting an appropriate verse from Deuteronomy (Matthew 4:1-11).

If you are in a spiritual battle, your sword is to be the Word of God–the swordA of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17b).

If there is a persistent spiritual battle you fight, memorize a portion of God’s living and active Word to gain the victory.

When They Try to Tell Us There Is No God.

I sat in the small coffee shop reading the morning paper.

My attention was immediately drawn to a headline that caught my eye.

A well-known former public figure with clout had just come out with his book—one proclaiming the news that there was no sovereign God.

The review presented it, without even questioning such a belief, as if it were indeed the truth and that this man of great reputation had all the answers on whether or not there was a sovereign God.

I put the paper down on the table, folded it and pretended that I hadn’t read it. I had once been all too familiar with a life with no sovereign God—nightmarish without His hope and lonely without His love.

Having been a former psychic and New Ager sold out to “higher consciousness” and “evolving” in my earnestness to make sense of the universe, I had stupidly bypassed the very Creator of the universeAlmighty God—and lived a life of emptiness and darkness.

For me, it took a Damascus Road face-to-face encounter with the Lord to stop me in my tracks—bringing me back to Him and on a journey to becoming His minister. This morning over this newspaper book review that broke the news of there being no sovereign God, I made a fist and thumped the table.

Now this was making me angry!

My first inclination was to attack this guy with his smug proclamation about “no sovereign God.” I privately took my anger to the Lord in a prayer—as I did, my fist uncurled and relaxed and I cupped by hands in my lap, like a kid in church.

A curious thing began to happen to me. Instead of feeling anger at the guy, I began to feel a great sadness come over me. I felt sad for how I had once been—alone without a sovereign God. I felt sad for this guy and for all the people who were barely hanging on in this world without knowing there is a sovereign God to love them, to protect them, to give them daily hope and help.

I came away from my private prayer, aware that this man had not failed us believers with his attempt to teach us that there was no sovereign God, but rather perhaps we as believers—being Christ’s ambassadors—had somehow failed him (see 2 Corinthians 5:20).

The tragedy was not that the article or book was published. After all this is a free country. We can publish what we believe. The tragedy lay in the fact that here was a life void of knowing what life could be through Jesus, the One who overcame the world (see John 16:33)—so that we could face it and live it as “more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (see Romans 8:37).

Perhaps as believers you and I should take it as a sign from the Lord: When we hear of someone calling out the “bad news” of there being no sovereign God, there in our face is bold evidence that there is work yet to be done—a work of love to spread the Good News of our risen and sovereign Lord Jesus.

We are believers and followers of the risen Savior, Jesus Christ. That means that we not only pray for the lost, the discouraged and the lonely, but we walk in love for those who desperately need a Savior and who so deeply need to feel His ever-abiding love.

When they try to tell us there is no sovereign God, show them the evidence of a life forever transformed by the only living God whose unconditional, unrelenting love is so real and powerful that it penetrates the deepest part of a soul, and with it brings forgiveness and healing to the most damaged of vessels.

When they try to tell us there is no sovereign God, let’s show them the evidence of our own changed lives and the hope we have to face the future with determination and not despair, love and not hate, faith and not fear. Let’s show them Jesus.

Hearing From God.

When God speaks to you it’s not always wise to rush out and tell people.

Actually, it can hurt you!

When God gives you a word of direction it’s often followed by a season of preparation.

Who wouldn’t want to talk about the amazing experience Paul had with God on the Damascus Road? And there would be a ‘right time’ for doing that — but not yet.

Don’t go till God gives you the green light.

Why? (a) Because God may need time to prepare the hearts of those He is sending you to.

(b) You need time, maturing and equipping, so that the word you’ve received can take root and be fulfilled in the way God wants.

Paul writes, “Immediately after my calling – without consulting anyone around me and without going up to Jerusalem to confer with those who were apostles long before I was – I got away to Arabia…it was three years before I went up to Jerusalem to compare stories with Peter…Then I began my ministry” (Gal 1:16-21 TM).

Paul had the wisdom to know that people would find his calling unbelievable.

So he waited.

He allowed God to go ahead of him and arrange the circumstances in his favor.

And while he was waiting, he allowed the word he had received to grow in his heart and make changes in his life.

Then, and only then, did he start doing what he was called to do.

Paul didn’t try to convince anybody, he let God do that.

And the result? “Their response was to recognize and worship God because of me” (Gal 1:24 TM).

So don’t get ahead of God’s plan for your life.

Be sensitive to His timing!

Scripture Of The Day: “For the revelation awaits an appointed time.” – Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV)

By Bishop E. Earl Jenkins.

Spirit of Jezebel.

The Jezebel spirit seeks to hide itself, seduce, intimidate, manipulate, murder and trade in human souls.

Some people talk about the “Jezebel spirit” because this is the kind of spirit that was working powerfully through Queen Jezebel, a Sidonian princess who married King Ahab of Israel, and killed so many prophets of God.

The woman Jezebel is mentioned also in the book of Revelation, chapter 2, verse 20 in the context of the church of Thyatira.

Here she is called a false prophetess, a teacher of sexual immorality. It would seem here again that Jezebel is the name of a person who comes under the influence of this spirit, because the Lord says he gave her time to repent.

The Queen of Heaven/Spirit of Jezebel/Mystery Babylon/Harlot Spirit is a very religious spirit, but it promotes religious things that are contrary to God. Jezebel promotes fleshly indulgence amongst God’s people and shuns the cross.

The Jezebel spirit is the enemy of the true prophets of the Lord. The book of Revelation has a chapter almost exclusively devoted to exposing this spirit – Chapter 17. In this chapter we read that the woman is drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.

(Revelation 17:6). So this spirit especially hates and seeks to murder righteous people and those who speak faithfully the Word of the Lord, just as Jezebel the wife of Ahab was responsible for most of the true prophets of Yahweh in her day (1 Kings 18:13)

This evil power is also exposed in the book of Isaiah, chapter 47

“Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called Tender and delicate.

2 Take the millstones and grind meal. Remove your veil, Take off the skirt, Uncover the thigh, Pass through the rivers.

3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered, Yes, your shame will be seen; I will take vengeance, And I will not arbitrate with a man.”

4 As for our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.

5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; For you shall no longer be called The Lady of Kingdoms.

6 I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, And given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily.

7 And you said, “I shall be a lady forever,’ So that you did not take these things to heart, Nor remember the latter end of them.

8 “Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’; 9But these two things shall come to you In a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood.

They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments.

10 “For you have trusted in your wickedness; You have said, “No one sees me’; Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you; And you have said in your heart, “I am, and there is no one else besides me.’

11 Therefore evil shall come upon you; You shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you; You will not be able to put it off. And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, Which you shall not know.

12 “Stand now with your enchantments And the multitude of your sorceries, In which you have labored from your youth– Perhaps you will be able to profit, Perhaps you will prevail.

13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators Stand up and save you From what shall come upon you.

14  Behold, they shall be as stubble, The fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves From the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, Nor a fire to sit before!

15 Thus shall they be to you With whom you have labored, Your merchants from your youth; They shall wander each one to his quarter. No one shall save you.

We are still dealing with this Babylonian spirit today. It is the spirit that takes captive the people of God.

It is this spirit that caused the church to go into the bondage of Roman Catholicism for centuries. Note Revelation 17:9 – the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. It is a fact that Rome is built on seven hills.

The same spirit which caused the Israelites to worship “the Queen of Heaven” mentioned in Jeremiah 44:17-19 and Jeremiah 7:18 is the one behind all the false mother/son religions that ever have been, including the Marian cult of the Roman Catholic Church.

This spirit does lying wonders, such as making statues weep.

Jeremiah 7:18 says:

“The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.”

The true God is NOT happy with such worship to the Queen of Heaven. Why do Roman Catholics and so-called Orthodox Christians call Mary the “Queen of Heaven” and practically exalt her above Jesus in their art and theology? It is this same idolatrous spirit, taking a “christian” form.

But this harlot spirit has an influence beyond that of roman catholicism. Its influence extends into Hollywood and the TV programs Christians pollute their minds with, into the United Nations, and in fact into the whole global political, economical and religious system of the world which is now seeking to unite all people everywhere under the antichrist.

It gets into the church as a spirit of ungodly control and seduction which encourages people to “live it up” in the world as long as they are submissive to the church leadership and don’t move in the Holy Spirit.

It seeks to kill the prophetic even in pentecostal churches, and this has happened in many places already.

To say ‘No’ to this spirit you will start to experience opposition in this life. You can dream along well enough and live a life of carnal pleasure, telling yourself you are Christian, without having too much trouble from this spirit, because in this way you are still held captive. Try to break free, and you will see what it is.

God has promised to judge and destroy this spirit and its works. This will not come without pain to the people of the world.

We may well be entering the season of this kind of judgment, with the collapse of economic systems. Yet, I believe that this Babylonian spirit has not yet come to the zenith of its power.

We will have to persevere and endure for some time yet. Things may get worse before they can get better.

Even so, we can get the claws of Jezebel and Babylon out of our own lives. We do this by taking an uncompromising stand for truth in an age of religious expediency. We do it chiefly by embracing the cross. Those who do not are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction. (Philippians 3:18,19).

“18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things.”

We have to be willing to actually suffer for Jesus if we want to defeat this evil power. It is by saying ‘No’ to the cravings of our flesh and to carnal ambition that we can be the true servants of the Lord in an age of “deep darkness” (Isaiah 60).

The cross is the place where we truly meet the Messiah. Any “anointing” which is not rooted in the cross is a false jezebel anointing. Such false anointings can be used to gather people together to hear what their itching ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3).

And many are impressed because the people so gathered can be induced to give large amounts of money to the cause. This then multiplies the influence of this false spirit.

If we keep the cross central in our lives and our teaching, we will do much to escape this spirit. For their is no deliverance from its witchcraft and its sorceries on the fleshly side of the cross. The man who is dead and hid in God will escape her, but the ungodly and the fool will not.

I hope to write more on this subject in the days ahead. Please pray for me that the Lord will give me the strength and the wisdom to do so.

Anointed for Action.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and-.-.-.-to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. —Luke 4:18-19

Jesus not only testified to be the Son of God, but He attested that the source of His anointing was from God. Here He gives the purpose of His earthly ministry:

* to preach the gospel to the destitute and afflicted;

* to those whose spirits have been crushed by the world;

* to heal the oppressed;

* to open the spiritual eyes of those blinded by Satan;

* and to declare that today is the day of freedom.

If you are in the kingdom and filled with His Spirit, you are also anointed for this same purpose.

The anointing is given to meet the needs of others.

Step out in faith to minister to the hurting in your family, your neighborhood and your city.

Jesus, open my eyes to see the destitute, afflicted,
brokenhearted, oppressed, sick, and blind people
around me. Anoint me to set them
free with the good news. Amen.

Father, Forgive Them.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” —Luke 23:34

We all have a story to tell. As you read this you may think it is impossible to forgive your unfaithful husband or wife.

You may feel you cannot forgive your abusive parent. You may feel you cannot forgive what was done to your son or daughter.

How can we forgive the church leader who took advantage of his position? What about the person who lied to us or about us, or the person who believed those lies? The list of potential offenses is endless.

Often closer to home, there are relatives and former close friends who have become enemies.

People experience real pain when they or someone they love is hurt by another person. It is often harder to forgive when the one who has been hurt is someone you love deeply, especially your child.

I find it much easier to forgive what people have said or done to me personally than what they say or do to my children.

But it is still very hard to forgive those who have hurt us directly, especially when they do not feel the slightest twinge of conscience.

But remember, at the foot of Jesus’ cross no one seemed so sorry. There was no justice at His “trial”—if you could even call it that.

What was Jesus’ response? “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). This must be our response as well.

{ Day 150 }.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.

Let nothing move you.

Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. —1 Corinthians 15:58

We are also not called to be religious. We are not called primarily to jump through the hoops of our religious systems and political structures, or to dot the i and cross the t according to a particular doctrine or policy.

The Great Commission was spoken from the heart of our Father God to a bride who is ordained to partner with the Son of God.

It was spoken to the church to be a lover partner, whose work would flow out of the energy of divine romance through hearts energized with love.

The Great Commission is often seen through the paradigm of a worker. It is seen as a mandate of great sacrifice. But by the end of the age, evangelism will be accomplished as the overflow of a lover in partnership with her Bridegroom God.

We won’t consider it sacrifice, but a privilege. We will work in the fields of harvest with hearts that are absolutely lovesick with desire for the Lord of the harvest.

Father, whenever religious systems or policies have taken first place in my life, remind me that I have been called to be in relationship as a lover with the Bridegroom God.

God has called us first to be lovers.

Crystal Clear Vision.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put childish things behind me. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” -1 Corinthians 13:11-12

I recently walked past a mirror that dated back to the early 1930s. Fascinated, I stepped closer to find only bits and pieces of my own reflection staring back at me.
With the silver badly pealing from its backing, the mirror was barely able to reflect an image. Yet someone somewhere had determined that, despite the poor reflection quality, the ornate trim around its edges gave it enough character to warrant its placement in their home. That antique mirror reminded me that sometimes we are poorly reflecting mirrors of God‘s love. Yet, God determined that, despite our poor reflection quality, His love for us was strong enough to send His son Jesus on a rescue mission of restoration.

That mirror also reminded me of the words from our scripture today in First Corinthians. That from our very limited vantage point in this life we can see only a fraction of the great plan God has for our lives, for the lives of our family members, for the future of our country, and for the world.
Just as a child fails in his or her understanding of the complexities of our world, so we as adults so often fail to grasp the grand purpose God has in store. The great promise is that someday all will be known. The great comfort for us is that we serve a God of love. The repeated message of Christ in the New Testament to us is this: Do not fear, do not fear, do not fear, for

I am with you. Today, in your own life, do not fear, for God knows exactly WHERE you are, and WHO you are. And the great news is, He loves you just AS you are!Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me! Thank You caring for me! Thank You for providing for me! Today I praise You, O Lord, for You are my God! In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is one thing about God that you don’t quite understand? What would be your first question to God if meeting face to face?

Undisturbed Relationship.

“At that day ye shall ask in My name …”

John 16:26,27

“At that day ye shall ask in My name,” i.e., in My nature. Not – “You shall use My name as a magic word,” but – “You will be so intimate with Me that you will be one with Me.”

“That day” is not a day hereafter, but a day meant for here and now. “The Father Himself loveth you” – the union is so complete and absolute.

Our Lord does not mean that life will be free from external perplexities, but that just as He knew the Father’s heart and mind, so by the baptism of the Holy Ghost He can lift us into the heavenly places where He can reveal the counsels of God to us.

“Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name. . . .” “That day” is a day of undisturbed relationship between God and the saint.

Just as Jesus stood unsullied in the presence of His Father, so by the mighty efficacy of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, we can be lifted into that relationship – “that they may be one, even as We are One.”

“He will give it you.” Jesus says that God will recognize our prayers.

What a challenge! By the Resurrection and Ascension power of Jesus, by the sent-down Holy Ghost, we can be lifted into such a relationship with the Father that we are at one with the perfect sovereign will of God by our free choice even as Jesus was.

In that wonderful position, placed there by Jesus Christ, we can pray to God in His name, in His nature, which is gifted to us by the Holy Ghost, and Jesus says – “What soever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.”

– The sovereign character of Jesus Christ is tested by His own statements.
