“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.”
When you are caught up in a fog, where you’re holding God’s hand and just keeping one foot in front of the other, the thing you ought to ask is: What’s the next right thing? Just do the right thing and God will bless you.
So many of us are caught in life, each in different places. Some of us are retired and not sure what to do with our lives now. Some of us are just out of college and not sure what to do with our lives now. So much of the decisions that we’re making are vocational, and yet that’s not really what God is looking at. God is looking at our characters. God wants us to make the next right decision.
In Deuteronomy 28, we read about how God is quite interested that we obey Him and obey what Jesus taught us – to love our neighbors, to turn the other cheek when people come against us, to be honest, to bless those who curse us, to care for those who are in need, to defend the defenseless, and so on and so forth.
Living a Christian life – that’s what God cares about.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I’m so blessed that you care about me. As I obey you, especially as I love others with your perfect love, my blessing will increase. I rest easy in your Fatherly love. Amen.
Reflection: How easy is it for you to turn the other cheek when people come against you? To defend the defenseless? To love others with God’s love? When have you done any of these things?
