I heard the voice of many angels … and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.

Where can you find the largest gathering of angels? Try a former church building in Beloit, Wisconsin. That’s the home of the Angel Museum, which began in 1976 when a couple spotted an angel figurine in an antique store. Their collection grew to nearly 14,000 from more than 60 countries, ranging from thimble-sized to life-sized. Even Oprah Winfrey got into the act, donating her collection of 571 black angels to the museum.

Collections of angels are of questionable value when compared to the assembly of real angels watching over us. Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” Psalm 91:11 says, “He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” Hebrews 1:14 says of angels, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister to those who will inherit salvation?”

Angels in a museum may be interesting; angels in ministry are vital to our well-being. The greatest collection of God’s angelic servants can’t be housed on a shelf; they’re too busy watching over us.

As created beings, angels are not to be worshipped, glorified, or adored in and of themselves. The angels were created to worship, glorify, adore, and obey God.
