“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Jesus says, “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
The rains are a-coming. The wind will be a-blowing. The streams will be a-rising. Are you ready? Whether you’re religious or not, whether you’re Christian or not, there is going to be wind, there is going to be rain, there is going to be rising streams. And the only way you will make it, the only way your life will be of something of true value, the only way it will actually have meaning is if you follow the master of living who is Jesus.
If you do what Jesus says, your life will be strong, steadfast, cleaved to the rock, immovable, unshakable.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I am building my life on you. My faith is preparing me for whatever life throws my way. I will follow you, the master of living, all of my days and nights. Amen.
Reflection: What do you consider the greatest storm in you life? How did Jesus help you to weather that hard time and grow?
