Okorocha’s govt. have failed Imo State, Ikeduru Women protest assassination of ex-council boss.

okorocha 2

More  than 500 women from Atta Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State  yesterday protested the assassination of their son and former Local  Government Chairman of the council area, Mr. Brendan Oguine.
Unknown gunmen assassinated Oguine at the weekend in his Ogada residence at Atta community in Ikeduru council area.
The women, who stormed the Government House Owerri as early as 9am,  accused the police of bias in their investigation as all those arrested  in connection with the murder, according to the women, had been released  in haste.
In a statement addressed to the State Governor Rochas Okorocha, and  signed by eight women leaders of the Atta Women Association, the women  alleged that the former council chairman was brutally murdered because  of some vital documents in his possession in connection with the Ezeship  tussle between the families of Okereke and Ugwueto.
The women who alleged lawlessness in the community, appealed to the  State Governor to intervene in the looming crisis as the people  supporting Ugwueto family who they claimed are rightful heirs to the  throne had been killed in mysterious circumstances.
Tracing the history of the Ezeship stool, the women claimed that the  family of Iwuala Ugwueto delegated the traditional stool to one Humphery  Okereke in 1978 when there was none educated in the family to take the  title.
On the demise of Okereke, the Atta community returned the title to  the real owners. “We decided to make one of Ugwueto’s sons, Samuel  Iwuala, Ezeelect but Okereke family started making troubles and he  (Samuel) was killed in a mysterious circumstance few months to his  coronation.
“Atta people presented his brother Geo Anika Ugwueto to succeed him,  everything preceding his coronation has been concluded waiting for staff  of office from the State Government.
“Again one of the elite sons of the community was brutally murdered  by hired assassins who invaded his house on January 19 around 2 o’clock  early morning demanding for some of the Ezeship documents because some  of it was under his possession,” they stated.

Dr James Ezuma Imo State Baby’s Factory Billionaire Ring-Leader Exposed.

Ezuma baby factory

•Deception… The signboard contravened what happened in the ‘home’
James Ezuma, a medical doctor nabbed by the police in Owerri, Imo State, for operating baby factories, is the face of child trafficking in Nigeria
•Ezuma: Serial polygamist with his third wife.
•Ezuma: Serial polygamist with his third wife.
The glassy signpost with blue, white and black lettering promises would-be visitors succour. Its delicate frame announces to the public the presence of a private hospital. Near this board is another with less aesthetic appeal on a lonely street off Egbu Road, in Owerri metropolis, which announces to the vulnerable, a place of refuge. The wordings on this board, strong enough to comfort even the most disheartened, have been revealed as a decoy to perpetrate evil.
The place is “Ezuma Women and Children Rights Protection Initiative… FG Approved NGO Homeless Babies Home,” which, until last month, was the epicentre of child trafficking, with a baby production regime, as if in an industrial factory, in full swing. At the peak of his career, Dr. James Ezuma, who claims to have studied at the University of Jos, was the poster child of successful medical practice. His vast empire, including real estate, posh automobiles and women, advertised him as a man who attained success through dedicated commitment to his profession. His physical wealth was complemented by a long list of clientele and friends in political and business circles. This probably explains why, with impunity, he could operate his purported hospital and Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, in a building for which proper building permit was never obtained. Yet, he was there for many years without the concerned officials raising eyebrows. For the sheer size of his wealth, the undiscerning public held him in awe.
The church bestowed a knighthood on him for his commitment to charity! This was before the police flashed their detective klieg lights on his activities. What they saw however, negates the very essence of the medical guild.
In Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State where Ezuma operated from before he was declared wanted, the 65-year-old drew respect and fear in nearly equal proportions. His five-storey ‘hospital and charity home’ on 101 Okigwe Road, Aba, was frequented by high-heeled guests and ‘patients’ who visited mostly at night in sleek automobiles. Their purpose: to purchase a child. The cost of land in the eternally busy Okigwe Road is estimated at N10 million per plot. Sources say the magnificent edifice may have been erected on over five plots of land. Neighbours and passers-by who dared prey into his activities in this fortress suffered losses as a result. A former associate of his told this magazine that any medical practitioner, who challenged his reptilian practices, suffered either physical harm or had his clinic shut down. His network of friends, some believed to be in privileged positions of government, ensured that he never suffered harassments. And when he did, they made escape routes available to him. Competent sources in the police force say he had been detained by the police but on such occasions, he was let off the hook.
The building which has been demolished by the Abia State government following its owner’s arrest in Owerri, was a den where innocent children were herded as raw material for his baby production factory. Here, Ezuma, working in tandem with his network of collaborators, brought girls, some pregnant, claiming to help provide anti- and post-natal services to them. Thereafter, the impostor claimed he offered them humanitarian services such as rehabilitating the teenage girls, while offering the children out on adoption. The inside of his so-called hospital before it was pulled down, fared even less than a dispensary.
•The signboard of the ‘hospital’
•The signboard of the ‘hospital’With a promise of good life and health care cover for the unborn child, the girls were coerced to give up their children for pittance, sometimes as low as N50,000 to N200,000. The methods of harvesting the babies, this magazine learnt, were debasing of the ethics of gynaecological practice. Using induced labour and crude delivery methods, Ezuma reportedly harvested even unripe pregnancies to satisfy his patrons. Although he made little noise about his sleight-of-the hand child production prowess in public,  Ezuma was the definition of impudence.
Following several half-spirited battles by the police with him in Abia State, Ezuma, who hails from Ndiokeke Ndiakunwata, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State, fled homewards. Owerri was where he relocated his lair and operational headquarters. Ezuma’s non-governmental organisation, sited on a virgin expanse of land was work-in-progress. With a storey building in advanced stage of completion, the multi-acre plot is littered with materials procured for building projects. On the left entrance to the facility is a small wooden house used for a church. The church previously had a land-related squabble with the doctor. The main building that housed his family served as the ‘consulting’ as well as ‘delivery’ wards of the hospital. The rest of the vast landmass is used for the cultivation of cassava, which separates the administrative area from the girls’ or patients’ ward. The environment where the innocent girls lived froths with weeds and dirt. The living conditions were as decrepit as the character of the man who ran the home. Eight girls, TheNEWS learnt, were confined in each of the two rooms, with neither ventilation nor permanent windows and doors. Gloom surrounds the ambience. It was in the quietude that pervades the place that the Ambush Squad of the Imo State Police Command nabbed him pants down, setting free 16 innocent girls, many of them at various stages of pregnancy.Conservative estimates indicate that Ezuma’s land in Owerri  values at hundreds of millions of naira. The structures at several stages of completion in the compound are evaluated at over N20 million. His deep pocket also reflected in his wealth. And he relished the comfort. Among the vehicles recovered from him were: a Jaguar, two Chrysler cars, a Lincoln Navigator, a Honda Jeep, a Nissan Quest, a Pathfinder Sports Utility Vehicle and three unidentified others. The Imo State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Musa Katsina, said: “Have you seen Ezuma’s vehicles?  When you see them, you will know the value of these vehicles. For goodness sake, in a disciplined country like Nigeria, how can somebody have 10 exotic cars without any single documentation? With impunity, they were all parked there, without a single documentation.”
Ezuma’s libertine inclinations are not limited to pecuniary benefits. His philandering is also legendary. “His marriage to his first wife failed sometime ago. The woman, a lawyer, left him because of his criminal tendencies which she condemned. The one he lived with until he was caught was actually their house-help. And he’s got other concubines,” a source who knew him closely told TheNEWS. In his world, beautiful women are complemented by lush automobiles!
Apart from indulgence in child trafficking, the police allegedly found an unregistered firearm in his home. This forms a fraction of the 18-count charges leveled against him in court. This adds up to the fact that his medical licence was seized by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, for improper conduct.
In the real sense of the word, Ezuma was not operating a hospital. In the words of  Katsina: “You don’t need to be a medical doctor to know what and what qualities a place should have to be a hospital. Here is a man who is in his 60s who calls himself a medical doctor and said: Dr. Ezuma Private Hospital. What is the definition of a hospital? When you go inside, it was the same doctor that was the chief medical director, he was the matron, the consultant gynaecologist. His wife who had never seen the four walls of any health institution is a consultant gynaecologist. Ezuma trained her in his hospital, trained her in his university, of which he is the provost of the college of medicine; he is everything. And yet, after graduating his wife, she came out without a certificate. Yet she was the one delivering babies. In the same hospital, ask them, where are the beddings, where is the labour room? Find out if you can get any injectable material. Even ordinary iodine or panadol is not there. It was a crude way of delivery.”
Katsina described Ezuma as an animal in human form, too dangerous to mankind.

Okorocha seeks soft landing from APC humiliation, says I did not join APC to run for Vice Presidency; I want to be President – Says Okorocha.

Okorocha mallam

For the avoidance of doubts, Governor Rochas Okorocha  has said that did not in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vie for the Vice Presidency but for the position of President.
Okorocha announced the plan in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.
The statement was a reaction to a report in one of the dailies headlined “APC: Governors Okorocha, Amaechi in Vice Presidential race.”
The statement noted that there has been pressure on the governor by Nigerians to vie for the presidency in the 2015 election.
It said the governor had been consulting but was not yet decided on the matter.
“Against the backdrop of the referenced headline, the Imo State Government wishes to put the record straight with regards to the ambition of the Imo Governor in 2015.
“It wants to correct the impression that the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, is in the race for the vice-presidential slot of the APC, as the headline had suggested.
“The truth of the matter is that Governor Okorocha is not in the VP race in APC.
“His consultations have not been on the VP slot but on the presidency and at the end of the consultations, he would decide whether to throw his hat into the ring for the presidential race or not,” the statement said.
The statement expressed satisfaction with some stakeholders of the party who met and came up with the governor’s name for the position of vice presidency.
It said the stakeholders must have considered the qualities in the governor and what his administration had done in Imo.

Confirming the develpoment to Vanguard in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Musa Katsina, said while four of the five policemen were explaining their involvement in the sordid act, the armourer is being tried for negligent conduct.
Katsina said: “It is true that I ordered the arrest, detention and interrogation of four serving policemen of this command for allegedly renting one of the rifles assigned to them to dare devil kidnappers.”
According to the CP, all the police officers, including the armourer, arrested in connection with the sordid finding are now facing orderly room trial.

Giving a graphic account of how the police recovered the weapon from fleeing kidnappers, Katsina said the command’s Ambush Squad gave a hot chase to a gang of kidnappers and in the process, they abandoned the gun in their operational vehicle and ran away.
“When the vehicle was thoroughly searched, the AK-47 rifle belonging to the command was recovered. We traced the point of issue to New Owerri police division and that is how the armourer came into the picture,” the CP said.
Katsina said policemen are given weapons to protect the citizens and not to use it to terrorize the people they are supposed to protect.
“The four were officially assigned the weapons for guard duties. The other three policemen never reported to anybody that their colleague whose weapon was later recovered from kidnappers, was not reporting for duty” the CP said.
Investigations revealed that the four policemen were posted to the residence of a retired CP (names withheld), while Katsina has since reported the incident to the Inspector General of Police.

Pray For Selfless Leaders Like Mandela, Okorocha Urges Nigerians.

IGNATIUS OKPARA, Owerri

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, and Chairman Progressive Governors Forum, has urged Nigerians to pray for God’s intervention in the raising of selfless National leaders as late Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha

Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha

Nigeria according to him, Nigeria is in dare need of National leaders that will be celebrated by other world leaders like the late South African leader, Nelson Mandela.

Okorocha, who stated this in his new year massage contained in a statement issued in Owerri by his Senior Special Assistant on media, Sam Onwuemeodo, said not until Nigeria enthrones leaders like the late Mandela, its political and economic woes would continue.

He added, “until leaders that would be respected and celebrated by leaders of other nations begin to emerge in the country, the nation won’t move as fast as expected in terms of development and growth.

The Governor, further charge Nigerians both the leaders and led to be committed to the wordings of the National Anthem and National Pledge, noting that living up to the letters of both would arouse national consciousness in every patriotic Nigerian.

He regretted that fifty-three years after Nigeria gained her independence, ethnic consciousness has been allowed to over-ride national consciousness and political power sought on the basis of which area one comes from, or which religion one practices, instead of emphasising on those factors that would make the unity of the country stronger.

The Governor therefore, appealed to Nigerians especially the leaders to ensure that all hands are on deck towards building a united nation, adding that the All Progressive Congress [APC], would provide the needed roadmap to achieve national greatness.

He posited that Nigeria as a nation, is over due to move to the next level of advancement, saying with the APC as the torchbearer, we will get to the promised land.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum also hinted that the APC is a party with deep love for democratic ideals and would like to wrestle power from the ruling peoples Democratic party, PDP, through the ballot box and not keen in the impeachment of anybody.

APC, he noted, is mindful of the fact that” power goes with dignity when the person holding it has the mandate of the masses to do so”.

He also assured the people of Imo State on the commitment of his administration in ensuring that the area remains on the fast lane of transformation and development.

The governor assured that the people-oriented policies of the administration would continue to be pursued with vigor, just as he urged all Imo indigenes both at home and in Diaspora to join hands with his government in its effort to make the state a place every Imo citizen, would be proud of, in all ramifications.

Determined than ever to Islamise all, Okorocha Advice govs, legislators to join APC.

Gov-okorocha

Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has urged other state governors yet to defect to All Progressives Congress (APC) to do so without delay. The Imo governor assured them that their political interest is guaranteed in the party than the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor also urged members of the National Assembly who want to join the APC to do so without hesitation, saying that the court action being taken by the PDP against some of the governors who defected to APC was only aimed at discouraging others itching to join the party.
Governor Okorocha maintained that the “the law is very clear on elected officers who want to defect to another political party.” Governor Okorocha made the plea at the Government House, Owerri, when some political stakeholders in the South-East geo-political zone visited him.
He explained that for the first time in the political history of the country when members of other political parties including the ruling party would be defecting to a party that is not in power at the centre. According to him, with the way people from all the geo-political zones in the country have been trooping into the APC, the party has become the most visible national political party at the moment.
He commended the former chairman of PDP in Kaduna state, Alhaji Audi Yaro Makama, former commissioners in the state and a host of others who recently defected to APC, describing the APC as a moving train every patriotic Nigerian must be desirous to catch up with.
Chief Moses Izuka Mboji who responded said the coming of APC into the political landscape of Nigeria was timely and said the Igbos have a bright future in APC especially with Governor Okorocha’s leading role in the party.national mirror.

Political killings: North makes Jonathan scapegoat urges him to prosecute Obasanjo and to forget second term in 2015.

Northern-five-jonathan

The North has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain who he was waiting for before taking action to bring officials of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration to book over political killings which he (Jonathan) said were the order of the day when Obasanjo held sway as the head of government in the country. It also insisted that the next president of Nigeria, must emerge from the area, pointing out that President Jonathan must stand down  for  their own in 2015.The northern groups, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, made these known at two separate  interviews with Saturday Vanguard yesterday.Reacting to a letter from Obasanjo, alleging that the President had placed 1000 people on watch list, Jonathan had in turn placed political killings in the country on the door steps of the former President.Obasanjo-Jonathan3Jonathan replied Obasanjo’s  18-page open letter dated 2, 2013, to him, pointing out that all the political killings since the Fourth Republic began, took place at the time Obasanjo was President.According to Jonathan, although political killings had occurred in the country, none of them had taken place since he became President about three years ago.Among those who were said to have been politically murdered during Obasanjo’s administration included, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige, and  South-South politicians, Chief Harry Marshall, Chief A.K. Dikibo, a former Senatorial Candidate of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP, in Imo State, Uche Orji, Arc Layi Balogun, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, Prof Chimere Ikoku, former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, in Anambra State, Chief Barnabas Igwe and his wife, Chief Victor Nwankwo of Fourth Dimension Publishers and Chief Funso Williams. However, the Secretary General of NEF, Prof Ango Abdullahi, confirmed in an interview with Saturday Vanguard that the North had made its position on the 2015 presidency known to President Jonathan’s emissaries, who had attempted to recruit some of their key stakeholders for the next poll.In the letter to Obasanjo dated December 20, 2013, Jonathan further stated, ‘’There have certainly been cases of political assassination since the advent of our Fourth Republic, but as you well know, none of them occurred under my leadership.’’Regarding the over 1000 people you say are on a political watch list, I urge you to kindly tell Nigerians who they are and what agencies of government are “watching” them. Your allegation that I am using security operatives to harass people is also baseless. Nigerians are waiting for your evidence of proof. That was an accusation made against previous administrations, including yours, but it is certainly not my style and will never be. Again, if you insist on the spurious claim that some of your relatives and friends are being harassed, I urge you to name them and tell Nigerians what agencies of my administration are harassing them.’’I also find it difficult to believe that you will accuse me of assisting murderers, or assigning a presidential delegation to welcome a murderer. This is a most unconscionable and untrue allegation. It is incumbent on me to remind you that I am fully conscious of the dictates of my responsibilities to God and our dear nation. It is my hope that devious elements will not take advantage of your baseless allegation to engage in brazen and wanton assassination of high profile

politicians as before, hiding under the alibi your “open letter” has provided for them.’’However, reacting to President Jonathan’s allegation on political killings before he came into office, the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Mr Anthony Sani, said, ‘’If you consider the submissions by Mr President, whose place in the order of things, is to provide order and direction to the nation… I wonder if he needs ACF to ask him to take necessary actions that are within his mandate.’’I have made it clear that what the former president wrote to his place-holder, President Jonathan, except perhaps the issues of training and arming snipers against political opponents-was common place knowledge. The same with the issues raised by President Jonathan.Meanwhile, Prof Abdullahi who spoke in an interview with Saturday Vanguard noted that the North had already made its position on the 2015 presidency known to President Jonathan’s emissaries, pointing out that a list of 151 key northern politicians and leaders was drawn by presidential political tacticians with a view to wooing them to work for the president in the next general elections. The former ABU Vice Chancellor and Presidential Adviser on Food Security admitted to Olusegun Obasanjo, said that he and some other northern leaders, whose names appeared on the list, had already been contacted for possible support to Jonathan ahead of the impending election. He said however that the presidential team must have hit the rock, as most of the northern elements consulted on the need to work for Jonathan’s re-election, politely turned down the offer.Abdullahi did not mention the name of any of those who contacted them and who politely rejected the offer to work for the president. His words, “What I can tell you now is that my name is on the list of the 151 Northern leaders and politicians, who have been earmarked for consultation by those working for Jonathan. But the good thing is that most of those contacted have also politely turned down the offer.“What Nigerians should know is that the North as it is today, is ready to receive and welcome a Nigerian president from any of the 19 northern states come 2015. He can come from any of those states and we are ready to support and work with such a leader come 2015.“I have been contacted by those who believe they can lure me and other Northern leaders to change our cause and we courageously but politely made our political position regarding 2015 very clear to them.“They must have got our message and have decided to adopt other strategies, which in any case, would not change our position regarding the emergence of the Nigerian president in 2015.”Although President Jonathan is yet to declare his intention to run in the 2015 poll, his body language suggests he would run, hence, opposition has been mounting against his second term particularly from the North, which claims that he signed a deal to run for only a term of four years after completing the remaining two years of late President Umaru Yar’Adua. The lingering disagreement among some of the party leaders and governors in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over 2015, led to the defection of five PDP governors to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, last month.President Jonathan has repeatedly said that it is too early in the life of the administration to begin campaign for re-election in 2015, pointing out that it was better for him to concentrate on the provision of  social amenities for Nigerians than dissipate energy on an election that was still far away.
