Paul Vallely: Military Benefit Cuts in Budget Deal ‘Atrocious’.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely says budget cuts that trim the benefits of military retirees are “atrocious,” especially considering the vast waste of money in Washington.

“It is atrocious, and somebody told me yesterday, it’s like we’re living in the Twilight Zone in Washington, D.C. What is wrong with these people?” Vallely told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“With all the billions of dollars of waste in the government . . . All the agencies that are just burning money like mad . . . I mean, this is a travesty of justice,” he said Wednesday.

Story continues below video.

Vallely was critical of Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, who were instrumental in putting together the bipartisan budget deal that passed the House last week.

“What is Paul Ryan doing? Patty Murray? [Senate Majority Leader Harry] Reid? The vast majority of them have never served in the military, do not understand what military families go through,” he said.

“I mean, someone’s got to finally stand up and put this down. This is just terrible.”

The cuts may see military personnel losing up to a full percentage point from their cost-of-living raises when they retire. That would mean a more than 20 percent reduction in retiree pensions over 20 years.

Vallely, chairman of Stand Up America and a Fox News military analyst, says lawmakers should concentrate on cutting from the “billions of dollars of waste throughout all of the other government agencies.”

“They won’t address most of those. Again, they must be in the Twilight Zone. I can’t figure out any other reason. It has no logic to it,” Vallely said.

Gen. Paul Vallely to Newsmax: Assad Has Fled Syria.

Syrian President Bashar Hafez al-Assad — who shocked the world last week with his use of deadly chemical weapons on rebel forces — has fled the country with his family, sources tell retired U.S. Army Major Gen. Paul Vallely.

“I got a report in he’s already left with his family for Tehran this morning,” Vallely told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax.

“He is backed into a corner now. He needs to be taken down.”

See the Malzberg interview below.

Vallely, chairman of Stand Up America, a non-profit, public-policy think tank, called Assad, “just as bad as Hitler. Over 100,000 people killed so far, a lot of children.

“The fact you’d use gas on your own people and attack them indicates that the international community needs to take charge and do something. They laid back with Hitler and look what happened.”

Vallely had no further information on Assad’s evacuation to Tehran, but said that his sources were accurate.

In a separate interview with Newsmax TV’s Kathleen Walter, Vallely said
the Assad regime can be crushed in about 30 days if its air force is “neutralized” and palace “taken down” – and without a massive U.S. military invasion.

Vallely — who also founded the Syrian Opposition Liaison Group, created in conjunction with the Free Syrian Army and Stand-up America – said Syrians believe Americans are “the only ones they have confidence in helping out the situation.”

“With the use of proper targeting we can change that situation,” he insisted. “What we’re advocating, based on the Free Syrian Army, is that they can bring Assad down in about 30 days if the air force is neutralized and that can be done by cruise missiles — we do not need any boots on the ground, the Defense Department has the targets in place now.”

See the Newsmax TV video below.

Vallely explained the Free Syrian Army is a force of about 100,000 that does “not want Syria to become a radical Islamic state.”

“They are the first ones to defect from the Assad regime in order to protect a lot of the attacks on the civilian population of Syria… they control most of the landscape and geography in Syria right now,” he said.

“The biggest problem is they cannot bring Assad down because of the air force bombing of them and the civilian population — of course last week then the use of the sarin gas chemical weapons.

“They are made of many retired generals, colonels, as well as professors, doctors, and a good cross section of Syrian society they want to make sure that the Syrian government as it is the tyrannical government is brought down.

“So that’s why it’s important that the air fields in the air force be taken out as well as the palace in my opinion, the two major targets.”

Vallely said the “attack mission” itself would not take long.

“I would say in 24 hours they can neutralize all the targets, some eight air fields,” he maintained.

“They do not have to hit the chemical munitions locations because once the air force is taken down, the Free Syrian Army knows where the storage is and inventory of the chemical weapons is and they will basically lock down those sites and prevent Assad forces from moving those chemicals to the air force for delivery.”

But Vallely warned the Obama’s administration is wrong in not wanting to not push for a change in regime.

“It’s very unwise,” he said of the strategy. “Because first of all, you have a regime just like Hitler killing innocent civilians… with hundreds of thousands of refugees leaving the area…. It is a tremendous tragedy that’s going on over there. But we can help by neutralizing the air force and then providing supplies to the Free Syrian Army.”

Vallely blasted Russia’s warning against taking military action.

“There are Russian advisers in there that are helping Assad putting together the sarin gas,” he charged. “We had a report from [an] inside agent in Syria that the Russians and the Iranians have technicians there.”

“It takes about two hours I guess to prepare the sarin for the rockets that they can launch from the ground or from their aircraft, both helicopters and jets,” he added.

“So from that standpoint, Iran may try to do something but Israel’s standing by; they’re on alert right now and so they can intercede as necessary.”

Vallely blamed Russian “advisors” in Syria and Assad government officials for “a great propaganda campaign of deception,” blaming opposition forces for the nerve gas attack on civilians last week.

He insisted opposition forces “don’t have that capability.”

“And, first of all, the opposition forces will not take it out on the civilians, whereas we know Assad has crossed the red line four times,” he charged. “I reported last year the use of the chlorine gas and provided videos on that. So this has been an ongoing thing. As Assad gets backed into a corner, his only strength, really, is the air force and the use of that air force against the civilian population. There’s plenty of documentation on that that we’ve seen over the last year.”

Vallely, who served in the Vietnam War and retired in 1993 as Deputy Commanding General, Pacific Command, said al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood will continue to “create terror supported by Tehran throughout the West.

“So anything that we do or not do, they’re still going to continue with the global caliphate and establishment of Sharia law. And all of the records and intel that we’ve been able to gather over the years just validates this each time,” he said.

“Obama doesn’t want to make the same mistake that he made in Egypt by backing the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood now have moved their operations, for the most part now, into Syria. And so they want to establish that as a Sharia-type government …

“My team is the only team that’s been there meeting with the Free Syrian Army. I also met with Al-Jazeera. I met with a representative of the Muslim Brotherhood last time I was there. So I have completely vetted out who are the good guys and bad guys.”

Vallely noted that although Assad controls three major areas — the Latakia province, the Tartus province – both on the Mediterranean “where the Russian ships come in from the Black Sea” — and about half of Damascus.

“The rebel opposition forces control the other parts,” he said. “I went through probably 200 kilometers within Syria and the Free Syrian Army checkpoints and all that controlling the movement is critical to stabilizing the civilian population.

“And I can tell you the civilian population is backing the Free Syrian Army.”

Gen. Vallely: Inexperience of Susan Rice, Samantha Power ‘Unbelievable’.

Retired Army Gen. Paul Vallely says Susan Rice is “inept” and “unqualified” to deal with the nation’s most sensitive policies in her new position as President Barack Obama’s national security adviser.

“You take Gen. James Jones, who was the first national security council advisor to the president, now to a Susan Rice, who has no national strategic background or operational background for national security at all,” Vallely told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below.

“So now you’ve got somebody totally inept, unqualified to fill the position of the senior national security advisor within the White House.”

Vallely believes the same holds true with Samantha Power, who Obama has nominated to take the place of Rice as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

“[She] has no international experience, Samantha Power, in dealing with these representatives from over 300 countries in the United Nations,” Vallely said.

“The inner circle of Obama. So you continue to have ineptness and unqualified people that are in these key positions of power in the United States. It’s unbelievable. It’s totally unbelievable.”

Gen. Vallely: McCain Met With Wrong People in Syria.

Sen. John McCain‘s secretly meeting with leaders of Syria‘s opposition forces was well meaning, but with the wrong people, retired Army Gen. Paul Vallely says.

“The people there weren’t the people that he should be meeting with in toto,” Vallely told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below.

“They were the commanders of the Free Syrian Army that I met with and he’s actually meeting with another group who has very little influence over there … the Free Syrian delegation.

“So he’s not really getting down to the people that I would have liked to have visited, which were the commanders on the ground that are fighting the battle every day.”

But Vallely said the trip was not in vain.

“It was good that he went over and at least tried to meet someone that we can’t count on our Secretary of State or the State Department to do,” said Vallely, now chairman of Stand Up America.

“Certainly they haven’t called any senior military to go over there and discuss possible support for the Free Syrian Army.”

Vallely said that after his last visit he prepared a report recommending that the United States not have troops on the ground in Syria but provide medical equipment and certain amounts of ammunition that could take down the Assad aircraft.

“[That aircraft] has been bombing and maiming the people of Syria. So here it is, 10 months later, and [McCain is] going over determining the same thing. It seems we’re always too late, coming after the fact on many of these international issues and leading from behind a little bit.”

Gen. Vallely: White House in ‘Collusion’ With Other Agencies on Benghazi.

The White House is guilty of employing “Chicago-style tactics” to quash the true story behind the deadly attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, retired U.S. Army Major Gen. Paul Vallely says.

“The Obama administration uses heavy-handed Chicago-style tactics to put the lid on people and they threaten them,” Vallely told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below.

“They threaten them with their jobs. And that’s exactly what been happening.”

Vallely, who served as Deputy Commanding General in the Pacific, commended the three “whistleblowers” who testified Wednesday in the Congressional hearings on Benghazi.

But he urged House members conducting the probe to press even harder.

“This hearing has got to even be stronger in getting out the facts and these three people have been very brave to put themselves out there,” he said.

“But believe me, there’s more in the background that hasn’t even been brought forth.”

Vallely charged the White House with being in “collusion” with other top agencies in allegedly covering up the mistakes that led to a lack of security and intelligence that allowed the attack to take place.

U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans lost their lives in the violence.

“This is an entire conspiracy that goes all the way to the White House, down through State Department, into the CIA, into the Department of Defense,” Vallely said.

“They’re all in collusion together in order to cover this up, what really happened.”

Vallely, who spent 32 years in the Army and is founder of the Stand Up America US Project, said he remains stunned that no apparent rescue mission was launched when the Sept. 11th, 2012 assault began.

“From the standpoint of the rescue — not even attempting a rescue when we did have forces in the area,” he said.

“To me, we’re bordering on complete dysfunctional organizations that support our people overseas, whether in the Defense Department or the State Department.”

Gen. Vallely: We Knew About Syria’s Chemical Use Last Year.

Retired Army Major Gen. Paul Vallely says the United States — which announced Thursday it has evidence that Syria has used chemical weapons — has been well aware of that fact for up to eight months.

Chemical weapons were used against civilians and against the opposition forces . . . This has been known and validated on the ground,’’ Vallely told Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’’

“What they’re using, basically, is a spray canister type thing of a chlorine gas that’s been enhanced by some innovations by the Iranian government — [the] Iranian Revolutionary Guard that’s been assisting.’’

Vallely — who chairs Stand Up America, which champions the conservancy of the U.S. Constitution — said while the Syrians have used the chemical sarin, as was disclosed Thursday, they have primarily used chlorine.’’

Chlorine — what that does, it chokes the individual, it really debilitates them immediately, and also causes serious skin rashes to occur and we, actually, even provided videos of the victims to the government,’’ Vallely said.

He said one reason the U.S. may finally be coming forward with its evidence is that it is becoming common knowledge.

“There’s enough pressure now, you know? They’ve asked the United Nations to go in. Turkey surely knows it. Hezbollah knows it in Lebanon what’s been used up there,’’ Vallely said.

“They’ve been trying to gather more and more chemical and biological weapons as well.’’
He criticized Washington for continuing “to hold things back from the American people of factual nature when they know it.

“It’s just another trip down the road of deception of what really this government knows.’’
