Benghazi Mom: Hillary Only Cares About Herself.

Pat Smith, mother of slain U.S. Foreign Service information officer Sean Smith, took aim at former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton for her role in the Benghazi attack where her son died.
“All she cares about is her own self,” Smith said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

“She lied to my face. I want the whole world to know that she lied to my face. You don’t want this person to be president,” Smith added.

Smith said Clinton, who is expected to run for the White House in 2016, promised to keep her in the loop on investigations into her 34-year-old son’s death.

“She promised me face-to-face at the casket ceremony that she would check on this thing and call me back, because I said I wanted to know what happened. And Hillary never called back. She never checked on anything,” Smith said.

“And not only that, but she knew at the time that it was wrong what she was telling me,” she added, referring to the administration’s original explanation that blamed the attack on a YouTube video.

Nearly a year after the bombing of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, questions remain about exactly what took place during the raid. The State Department announced Tuesday that four mid-level employees, originally placed on paid administrative leave for their involvement, would be reinstated.

Smith had no question where to look for answers about the events surrounding her son’s death.
“All I do know is that Hillary was responsible. It was her department. And if it wasn’t her, then it was Obama, who left on vacation as soon as it happened,” she said.

Smith expressed her determination to keep the attack a topic of discussion until the administration provides answers about what happened.

“It’s not going away. It’s still there. It just hasn’t been resolved yet. I’m here to say that I don’t want it resolved until somebody gets up and takes responsibility for what they did,” she said.

State Dept. Undersecretary Kennedy Signed Off on Benghazi Security Memo.

By Sandy Fitzgerald

A review of internal State Department memos and congressional testimony shows that the decision to keep personnel at the Benghazi embassy in Libya, but at a lower level of security, was signed by State Department Undersecretary Patrick Kennedy.

Fox News reports that nine months before the Sept. 11 attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stephens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and former Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, Kennedy received an internal memo concerning the embassy. The December 2011 document, sent by then-Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, called for rapidly implementing corrective security measures, but none were made, with exception to the height of the embassy’s wall, according to testimony by Regional Security Officer Eric Nordstrom to the House Oversight Committee.

Part of the problem may have been that Benghazi was not referred to as a consulate in the internal memo, which may have exempted it from mandatory Overseas Security Policy Board security standards. Fox reports the State Department’s emails show it was insistent the White House not call the Benghazi embassy a consulate, but instead a “mission” or “diplomatic post.”

The memo also revealed other State Department goals for Benghazi, including being able to “monitor political trends (Islamists, tribes, political parties, militias) and public sentiment regarding the ‘new Libya,’ as well as report on the critical period leading up to and through Libya’s first post Qaddafi election.”

However, Nordstrom repeatedly warned that the Benghazi site was still “undefined,” and months before the attack, he worried that the site never met federal standards for security.
Former state officials told Fox that Kennedy, who was responsible for overseas building operations and security that should have followed strict OSPB standards.

“I find it very hard to believe that he (Kennedy) would sign this memo without having talked to Secretary Clinton or at least Deputy Secretary (William) Burns,” former ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said. “Keeping this position open in Benghazi is a policy decision. It’s a policy decision that overrides normal security considerations. And I think that’s significant enough that a careerist like Undersecretary Kennedy would not do it on his own.”

According to the OSPB, strict standards can’t be waived in locations that provide diplomatic services. But Nordstrom said “more importantly, senior decision makers in the Department, including the U/S for Management, determined that funding would not be provided in order to bring the facilities into compliance with the aforementioned standards,” he said.

After leader Muammar Quaddafi’s fall in 2011, several factions came into the region and more than 16,000 criminals were released. But that November, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the United States had committed $40 million to help Libya secure and recover its weapons stockpiles.

Meanwhile, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the memo isn’t important, and that the policy question was dealt with before the House Oversight Committee last fall.

“Let me just say on this particular memo, it’s been available to the House of
Representatives since October. It was discussed in October in a hearing on the House side and in many, many, many briefings. It was even posted — this sensitive document was posted on the website as well,” Psaki said.

Benghazi Victim’s Mom: Obama Promoted a ‘Proven Liar’.

Pat Smith, the mother of one of the four Americans killed during the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya told Fox News on Wednesday that she doesn’t understand why President Barack Obama would promote a “proven liar” to become his national security adviser.

Smith was reacting to the news that former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice would become Obama’s next National Security Adviser after she had earlier abruptly withdrawn her name from consideration to become secretary of state following a standoff with Republican senators.

“It’s kind of curious,” Smith told Fox’s Sean Hannity. “I don’t understand why Obama would want a proven liar to be his security adviser. That makes no sense to me at all.”

Rice went on five Sunday television shows on Sept. 16, 2012 to say that preliminary information suggested the Benghazi assault was the result of protests over an anti-Muslim video that was made in California rather than a premeditated strike by terrorists.

The video, posted on the Internet under several titles including “Innocence of Muslims,” mocked the Prophet Mohammad and portrayed him as a womanizer and a fool.

Unlike secretary of state, which requires Senate confirmation, the national security adviser serves at the pleasure of the president and requires no further approval.

The mother of slain State Department Information Officer Sean Smith said she had been told by her late son that his pleas for more security had been rejected.

“He told me ‘mom, I saw people taking pictures out here.’ He says, ‘I’m very worried.’ He says, ‘I’ve asked for help. I’ve asked for security and all they’ve done is turn me down,’” recalled Smith. “I don’t know what else to say. I can’t put words in his mouth. But I know he was afraid. He was worried about it, and I know that he did not get the security that he asked for, and that other people have asked for.”

She blames former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the lack of security.

“I know it was hers. I know it was hers. I can’t prove anything, but I know in the depth of my soul I know it was hers. It was her department. It was her area and she was in charge,” asserted Smith. “I don’t care if she doesn’t admit it. She was in charge and she should have been in charge. And that’s who Obama’s listening to.”

Smith said she was initially invited to an award ceremony for her son, but then nothing came of the invitation.

“When I went to the casket ceremony they told me that there was going to be an award and that they would send for me, they would get me over there so I could witness the award. They didn’t do it,” she recalled.

The administration has insisted that Smith is not considered part of her son’s immediate family.

The 10-year veteran of the Foreign Service who also had served in Iraq, South Africa, Canada, and the Netherlands, was an Air Force veteran with a wife, a son, and a daughter.

In addition to him, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and two other Americans also were killed at Benghazi.

Smith’s mother insists that President Obama still has not been truthful with the American people.

“The last time I saw Obama on TV my blood pressure shot up so high that I had to take extra pills because of it. He lies. He lies and so do everybody that’s surrounding him,” she said. “They’re not telling the truth and I don’t know why.”

Asked by Hannity what she would say to the president if given the opportunity, Smith said that she’d tell him to start listening.

“I’d like to say ‘please just listen to the American people. Don’t listen to whoever it is that’s advising you. I don’t know who’s advising you. I don’t know who you’re listening to, but it’s wrong. It’s very wrong. It won’t help,’” she explained.

Benghazi Victim’s Mother: ‘I’m Still Waiting for Answers’.

The mother of one of the four Americans killed during the Benghazi attack last Sept. 11 said on Saturday that she found no closure in this week’s hearing on the assault.

“Absolutely not,” Pat Smith declared to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee via satellite on his Fox News program. “I’m still waiting for answers to just about everything.”

She is the mother of slain State Department Information Officer Sean Smith. He was a 10-year employee of the Foreign Service who also had served in Iraq, South Africa, Canada, and the Netherlands.

He also was an Air Force veteran with a wife, a son, and a daughter.

Besides Sean Smith, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and two other Americans also were killed at the U.S. post in Benghazi.

The Obama administration has insisted that Pat Smith is not considered part of her son’s immediate family.

“I want someone to admit that they blew it and that they made the wrong decision,” Smith told Huckabee. “I know these are hard decisions to make. I could probably never make those kinds of decisions.

“But I do know that they asked for help,” Smith added. “They were refused. I want to know why. Why were they refused? And I want it corrected.”

Smith, who attended Wednesday’s hearing before the House Oversight Committee, said she could deeply identify with the respect that the surviving State Department employees had for those who died in Benghazi.

Huckabee’s program included highly emotional testimony from Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer and former Regional Security Officer in Libya.

“I know they felt bad,” Smith said. “I could feel it. I could just feel how they felt. That’s how I felt, too. But the government doesn’t care. They don’t care about us people at all.

“All they had to do was just tell me what happened and I would’ve gone away,” she added, wiping her eyes. “But they didn’t even bother.

“I was an unimportant person. And, now, I’m an unimportant person who doesn’t have a child for Mother’s Day — and I feel so deeply. They cannot understand how I feel.”

Huckabee then added, “You’re not an unimportant person, Pat,” drawing applause from the audience.

Mother of Benghazi Victim: Obama Administration Still Covering-Up Facts of Tragedy.

On the eve of Wednesday’s Benghazi hearing, the mother of one of the four Americans killed during the Sept. 11, 2012 attack is charging that the Obama administration has engaged in an eight-month cover-up of the facts.

“They are covering it up because I haven’t heard any answers,” Pat Smith told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday.

The mother of slain State Department Information Officer Sean Smith said she has appealed for answers to senior Obama administration officials, including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.

“I told every one of them personally nose to nose — just tell me what happened,” she explained. “Whisper in my ear if it’s classified, and I won’t tell anybody. But at least it will put things to rest for me. But they won’t do that.”

Smith said she was contacted by a “clerk” a couple of days after the incident, who read her an official timeline of the attack, but refused to provide additional details of her son’s death.

The administration has insisted that Smith is not considered part of her son’s immediate family.

“The only thing that they will tell me is I’m not a member of the immediate family,” she said. “And I don’t understand that because I still remember the labor pains, which was quite a while ago.”

Smith also reacted to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney’s statement in recent days that “Benghazi happened a long time ago,” saying then “why don’t they have answers by now?”

Sean Smith was a 10-year veteran of the Foreign Service who also had served in Iraq, South Africa, Canada, and the Netherlands. He also was an Air Force veteran with a wife, a son, and a daughter. In addition to him, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and two other Americans also were killed at Benghazi.

Smith’s mother blames the Obama administration — and Clinton in particular.

“Why don’t they have answers by now? They’ve had plenty of time to come up with something other than the things that they have not told me,” she explained.

Smith, who plans to attend Wednesday’s hearing on Capitol Hill, said that the many unanswered questions have kept her awake at nights.

“I cry every night. I don’t sleep at night. I need answers,” she said. “Why was there no security for him when they were supposed to have security and the security that they did have was called back? Things do not add up and I’m just told lies.’

Asked whether she believes the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission has been politicized, Smith responded “of course it’s political. That’s the way it’s been.”

But she added, “Why don’t they just do their job? They didn’t do their job and now they’re hiding behind the word ‘political’ and going from there.”

She blames Clinton because the attack happened on her watch at the State Department.
“She was in charge. Why couldn’t she do something about it? I blame her because that’s her department. She’s supposed to be on top of it,” said Smith. “Who is running the place?”
