Harry Reid: I’d Like to Lead Senate for 8 More Years.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he plans on staying right where he is for as long as he possibly can.

The Nevada Democrat is up for re-election in 2014, and in an interview with Roll CallWednesday, he confirmed that he intends to run. “I don’t want to do it more than eight more years,” said the 74-year-old former boxer.

Asked if Democratic Conference Secretary Patty Murray’s front and center role in the recent budget negotiations means she could take over the leadership, Reid responded, “If I drop dead? I don’t know.”

“I mean, I will someday. It’s just a question of if I do it while I’m here,” he said.

As for whether Reid thinks his party can maintain its majority in next year’s elections in light of issues such as the disastrous Obamacare rollout, he was optimistic, saying, “We’re always very honed-in on the races. We feel pretty good about how things are going.”

He also said he has not ruled out taking further steps to curb the GOP’s ability to filibuster, as he did last month when he used the so-called nuclear option to eliminate filibusters on most nominations.

“I have no intention of changing the rules tomorrow or the next day or, you know, [in] the foreseeable future, but this is a two-way street. I think that we should start legislating and not [waste] all of our time on nominations. That’s all I’ve been wasting my time on for years here is nominations,” Reid stated.

“I’m not precluding anything. It’s just according to how we get along here.”

Rodman Says He’s Going Back to NKorea, Blasts Obama.

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman says he’ll go back to North Korea on Aug. 1 in an attempt to secure an American imprisoned there.

Rodman was critical of President Barack Obama for not talking to North Korean President Kim Jong-un after Rodman’s last visit there. The young leader bonded with the ex-NBA star over basketball, and sent a message back with him that he wanted to talk to Obama.

Kim got no public response from the White House, and later ramped up tensions with the United States and its ally, South Korea, moving missiles and claiming they had the capability to deliver nuclear warheads to the U.S. mainland. He recently moved the missiles back.

Rodman told celebrity website TMZ that he is returning to the communist country to try to free Korean American Kenneth Bae. Rodman admitted, “It’s gonna be difficult.”

Rodman had angry words for Obama. “We got a black president (who) can’t even go talk to (Kim),” Rodman told TMZ. “Obama can’t do s**t, I don’t know why he won’t go talk to him.”

Rodman appeared on ABC’s “This Week” when he returned from his first trip. He said then that he doesn’t condone what Kim does, but called him his “friend.”

“At least Kim did one thing, he took the missiles back,” Rodman said. “Thank you. Took the missiles back, right?”

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is heading back to North Korea to try to secure the release of Kenneth Bae, an American citizen imprisoned there.

Rodman, who first visited North Korea in February, said he’s taking on this duty, because President Barack Obama won’t.

“We got a black president [who] can’t even go talk to [Kim Jong Un],” Rodman told TMZ. “Obama can’t do [expletive]. I don’t know why he won’t do it.”

That leaves it up to the former NBA rebounding machine. “I’m gonna try to get the guy out,” Rodman said. “It’s gonna be difficult.”

Bae was sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government.

Rodman hopes that his “friend” Kim will help him out when he visits in August. Rodman said he has “absolutely” been in touch with Kim, “through his people.”

Trump Withdraws Maher Lawsuit.

Real-estate billionaire Donald Trump has withdrawn his $5 million lawsuit against Bill Maher, the liberal comedian host of HBO’s “Real Time” — for now anyway.

“The lawsuit was temporarily withdrawn to be amended and refiled at a later date,” Michael Cohen, a lawyer for Trump, told TMZ.

The suit centered on a $5 million bet between the two celebrities. In January, Maher said he’d pay that amount in cash to charities of Trump’s choice if the Donald released a birth certificate proving he’s not the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.” Maher was playing on Trump’s challenge of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

Trump indeed released his own certificate. But Maher refused to pay up, saying it was all a joke. Trump promised legal action and filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles in February.

Last month, Trump insisted he was ready for justice to run its course. “He made an offer, I accepted the offer,” Trump said then on ABC. “He didn’t say it was a joke [at the time]. We’re going to find out if it was a joke. The courts will tell.”

The suit was withdrawn last Friday.
